Legal 500 Germany 2026: Raue once again at the top in key sectors

In its 2026 edition, the Legal 500 Germany confirms Raue as one of the leading independent commercial law firms. The firm achieved five Top Tier rankings and was ranked in a total of 20 practice areas. The top-ranked areas include energy regulation, press and publishing law, entertainment copyright law, and two healthcare areas, once again. Raue thus maintains its leading position in key regulated industries, as well as in media and healthcare law.

Particular emphasis is placed on regulatory advice in the energy sector, and the firm’s strength in this area is evident. Raue handles complex mandates at the intersection of regulation, transactions, and litigation in this area, most recently handling nullity proceedings before the European Court of Justice regarding energy price caps and transactions in the offshore wind sector.

Legal 500 describes the practice as one of the most prominent for regulatory mandates: “Raue is renowned for regulatory support, which is also regularly drawn on in the course of litigation”.

This combination of regulatory advice and procedural experience is also a key feature of other sectors of the firm.

Healthcare: financing, regulation and transactions

The ranking particularly recognises the firm’s experience in complex financing and structural issues in the hospital sector, as well as its integration with state aid, public procurement and competition law.

In particular, Legal 500 highlights the firm’s procedural experience and regulatory depth: ‘Raue impresses with its litigation experience in connection with hospital financing, where the team also draws on its expertise in state aid and hospital financing law.’

The firm also advises on transactions in the healthcare market, such as practice acquisitions and the establishment of medical care centres.

Media: Platform Economy, AI and Freedom of the Press

The firm is particularly recognised for its work in entertainment and copyright law. As well as working with the music and arts industries, the firm is increasingly advising companies in the platform and e-commerce economy, and on legal issues relating to the use of AI in media and communications.

In press and media law, the firm advises leading media companies on issues of freedom of expression and personal rights, as well as providing litigation support. The firm’s services range from preliminary strategic reviews to legal representation in court.

Legal 500 emphasises the firm’s particular experience in dealing with disputes relating to press law: “Raue advises newspapers, as well as press and media companies, on freedom of speech and personal rights, including in proceedings against injunctions”.

Broad positioning and expansion in future-oriented fields

In addition to its top rankings, Raue is recommended in numerous other practice areas, including artificial intelligence, venture capital, telecommunications, transport, public procurement law, and commercial and administrative law. The firm is also represented in Tier 2 for energy law for the first time.
