Raue LLP Achieves Permanent Installation of “Wandering Church“

Raue LLP has achieved a permanent installation of the “Wandering Church“ at Bethlehemkirchplatz (Berlin-Mitte). After the approval of the artwork in November 2013 had expired, the district of Berlin-Mitte had refused a further extension and ordered the immediate removal. In August 2014 Raue LLP had successfully defended the artist before the Administrative Court of Berlin and prevented the demolition of the art object. Raue LLP was now able to eliminate further legal concerns of the district office. By decision of 7 July 2015, the district office granted special permit for the work of art and thus approved the permanent installation of the object (for now until November 2024).

The art object was built by the internationally renowned artist Juan Garaizabal as part of his project “Memorias Urbanas”. It reproduces the former Bethlehem church by using metal structures and light elements at its original location and in its original size.
