Raue LLP advised Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe (BSR) on the takeover of the Hennickendorf composting and fermentation plant in Brandenburg. On August 1, 2018, BSR takes over the property, buildings, technology, equipment and employees of Hennickendorfer Kompost GmbH.
With the takeover of the 10 hectare plant, BSR will increase its capacity for the recycling of biowaste by more than 100 percent to a total of approx. 160,000 tons. BSR is thus preparing itself for next year’s obligation for homeowners in Berlin to set up at least one organic waste bin for each household. BSR expects this to result in an increase of up to 70 percent in the amount of bio-waste in the capital.
Raue LLP comprehensively advised BSR on the acquisition, including due diligence, contract drafting and negotiation. In addition to corporate and transaction law aspects, the firm advised on real estate law, administrative and regulatory law, labour law and general contract law.
