Raue Advises enyway on Construction of Subsidy-Free, Crowdfunded Solar Park

Raue advised enyway on the construction of the first crowdfinanced, subsidy-free open-space solar power plant in Germany.

enyway was founded in 2017. The company enables consumers to purchase renewable electricity directly from producers. In November 2018, the product offering enyway “change” was launched. The product enables the joint realisation of large solar projects with the help of joint financing by many private individuals who afterwards consume the generated electricity themselves. The solar modules are divided into virtual mini packages by using blockchain technology. The funding threshold was reached in April 2019.

Now, the first project, a subsidy-free solar park the size of a football field, is being implemented in Hecklingen (S-A). The open-space solar plant will be built by BayWa r.e., one of the largest developers of wind and solar parks in Germany. After completion in September, the project consisting of around 4,400 solar modules will generate around 1.3 million kWh of subsidy-free, green electricity per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 500 households.

Raue advised enyway on all energy, regulatory, real estate and contractual aspects of the project. Already in 2017, the law firm advised enyway on the establishment of the company. In November 2018, Raue advised on the conceptual development of enyway “change”.
