Raue LLP Advises Alpiq on Energy Management Joint Venture with Sodexo

Raue LLP advises Swiss energy provider Alpiq on the establishment of a joint venture with French facility management specialist Sodexo. The newly founded Sodexo Energy Services GmbH with headquarters in Heidelberg will provide Sodexo customers with electricity and gas. The two shareholders in the joint venture plan to expand the business model into other European countries.

Alpiq and Sodexo are entering the German market for energy services with the joint company. Alpiq is further expanding its end customer business in Europe, within the framework of its strategy. Sodexo gains the opportunity to enter into an important new area of business.

Alpiq will primarily contribute its competences in electricity and gas trading and sales. The company is active in these fields as well as in power production. It offers its clients extensive, efficient energy services for buildings and plants, transport technology, and power and industrial plant engineering. In 2014, Alpiq generated revenues of 8.1 billion CHF with approximately 8,000 employees. The Alpiq Group is headquartered in Lausanne and listed on the Swiss Exchange SIX

The French Sodexo Group ranks among the largest international facility service companies. The services are geared mainly towards industrial companies, public authorities, hospitals, retirement and nursing homes, schools, and military bases. Sodexo generated revenues of about 18 billion EUR in 2014 and serves 75 million end customers worldwide in 80 countries at about 33,000 locations.
