Raue LLP Advises Mosse Foundation on Art Restitution

Raue LLP represents the Mosse Foundation in the negotiations regarding the restitution of artworks from the former collection of  Jewish publisher Rudolf Mosse (1843-1920) which was unlawfully confiscated in early 1933 by the Nazis and subsequently put up for auction at the auction houses Lepke and Union.

In cooperation with the US law firm Bartko Zankel Bunzel, Prof. Dr. Peter Raue, Prof. Dr. Jan Hegemann and Dr. Felix Stang of Raue LLP advise all heirs of Felicia Lachmann-Mosse in negotiations with museums in possession of works of the Rudolf Mosse Art Collection registered with the lost art register. The list of registered artworks currently contains 440 objects, including important works by Max Liebermann, Wilhelm Leibl and Karl Blechen.

The recently restituted works include eight objects from the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation including the sculpture “Reclining Lion” by August Gaul.
